discover the lake distict in Mecklenburg
The riches of the Mecklenburg Lakes can be discovered by cyclist or the rambler-
the sleepy village church or the observation tower, wich shows only its red-brick cape above the woods on the banks of the Tollensesee: The castle Hohenzieritz near Neustrelitz, whereQueen Louise of Prussia died 195 years ago;
The house near Feldberg, where Fallada lived; the Heinrich-Schliemann-Museum near Waren in which the discoverer of Troja was born;
the slavic villages close to Neubrandenburg and Sternberg.
Anyone who wants to enjoy the balance of nature and culture should definitely do it in this, our area.

1000 year history of Mecklenburg -Western Pommerania
Towns like Waren (Müritz) prove that the Mecklenburg Lakes have more than just beutiful nature to offer. Marina passages and the proud "old town" put on their best cultural faces every year for the "Müritz Sail Days"
The little town Malchow celebrate all years in summer a famous traditional festival. A visit to the church and the cloister of Malchow is well worth it, as would bean excursion to Penzlin with the annual "Burgfest" (castle festival) in the old castle of the town, which has the only preserved example of its type in europe of a witches dungeon.
The town of Plau am See, which received the title of town in 1235, is also recommended for the Mecklenburg tourist. The largest natural-stone barn in germany,situated in Bollewick, close to Röbel, offers a remarkable experience - especially on the days of the traditional farmers`market with examples of old-style handicrafts.
